Why We Made Do What Kids Do

Why We Made Do What Kids Do

If you've landed here, you probably have a small person in your life somewhere between three and seven — an age where they're learning who they are almost faster than you can keep up.

We started Do What Kids Do for exactly that stretch. Not to teach your kids — you and the other adults in their life already do that, every single day. We're here for you: the parents, the educators, the grandparents, the family and friends doing the real work of helping a child grow.

Here's the belief underneath all of it. Raising kids was never meant to be a solo act, and no one should have to figure it out alone or from scratch.

The information exists. Decades of early childhood research, thousands of good ideas, more parenting content than anyone could read in a lifetime. But it's scattered, contradictory, and often written to make you feel behind. So the resources that could genuinely help you get lost in the noise — and you're left trusting your gut with no backup.

We're trying to fix that in three ways.

We tell stories. Our books give you and your child something to read together — everyday adventures and everyday emotions that make big life skills feel small and doable.

We share activities. Our app follows the behaviors you're actually navigating and pairs the research-backed “why” with a simple “what to do” — so you're never just handed a fact, you're handed a next step.

We host the conversation. Through our blog, our community, and the resources we curate, we're gathering the scattered, overwhelming world of raising a young kid into one place that feels like it's on your side.

We're not here to tell you how to parent. We're here to help you discover the resources that work best for you.

Because the goal was never a perfect method or a single right way. The goal is that every parent, educator, and caregiver feels confident in their responsibility to help raise all of our children — together.

That's the whole reason we exist. Thanks for being here. We're glad you found us.
